Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child have to wear a uniform? Amidon-Bowen is a uniform friendly school. We know that PreK students have a lot of opinions, especially with relation to clothing. We encourage you to get your child ready for the uniform, but also know that we understand that kids will want to wear clothes outside of the uniform. As long as the clothing is within the school’s guidelines, there won’t be any issues.
What is the curriculum used? PreK is all about learning through play and discovery. Our teachers use TeachingStrategies Creative Curriculum and the Second Step Curriculum to help students develop both their academic and social emotional learning skills.
How many students are in a classroom? This can range each year, but typically no more than 16 for PK3 and 20 for PK4. There is a lead teacher and an associate teacher in every classroom.
Does my child need to be potty trained? No, they do not. We will work with them to get potty trained, and we don’t want it to be a stressful situation for you or your child as they start Pre-K. Please keep us informed of your progress and strategies so that we can support your scholar with this important milestone. Please see the supply list to ensure your child has the right potty training tools at school.
Will my child have naptime? Yes, naptime is part of the school day for PreK students. Students who do not nap will have the option to engage in quiet activities.
How can I connect with other parents? Email amidonbowendc@gmail.com to join our WhatsApp group for PreK parents. This is a great space to ask questions of other parents and schedule playdates.
